Pastor Takes Chief to Court over Dogs

A chief is staring at an extended jail term after he was taken to court for allegedly stealing exotic dogs from a city priest.

Assistant Chief, Mr Paul Gachiri Wageni is said to have stolen two Terrier breed dogs from Helicopter Church evangelist, Mr Thomas Wahome Njuguna.

The assistant chief also faces a second count of handling stolen property, where is said to have stolen the dogs worth Sh300,000 from the pastor.

Resident Magistrate for Othaya Ms Monica Munyendo hear that Mr Gachiri had stolen the dogs but the accused denied the charges, absolving himself of any wrongdoing.

The dogs which the pastor said he imported from Tanzania and flew into the country are said to be male and female.

He would later hand them over to his farm worker Mr Stephen Ndichu.

“I reported the matter to the area assistant chief Mr Paul Gachiri to address the matter during barazas as I suspected they might have been taken by one of the neighbours. I returned to Nairobi waiting any feedback from the assistant chief,” he told the police in his statement.
