The growing rift between President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy President William Ruto has drawn away hopes for the Tanga tanga team that the president will still keep his promise to support Ruto for 2022 presidential bid.
However, the nominated MP David Ole Sankok knows otherwise.He has once again revisited a pre-election pact between President Uhuru and his Deputy Ruto on the party’s choice for its 2022 flag bearer.
Sankok who is a member of the Tanga Tanga wing of Jubilee which is associated with Ruto, claimed Uhuru had sworn to support the DP come 2022 and will be leading the party campaign team.
” We us Jubilee we agreed on a 10-year term for both Uhuru and Ruto. Tanga Tanga is the real Jubilee that is led by UhuRuto. In 2022, Uhuru will be Ruto’s chief campaigner because that is what he swore before his supporters during past campaign periods. We are ready for the race,” he said on Wednesday, May 8.
Speaking of the opposing Kieleweke camp, the legislator slammed the anti-Ruto forces whom he described as rudderless politicians led by old perennial losers beyond “electoral menopause”.
“There is a leaderless political NGO called Kieleweke which is made of bitter losers from both ODM and Jubilee without any aim apart from blocking Ruto. They are led by octogenarian from trade union who is past intellectual menopause or the one who told us he had one bullet. We did not elect Ruto become a watch watchman, he is a politician,” he added.
It is widely believed the two Jubilee leaders inked a deal that guarantees Ruto a presidential ticket, but already he is receiving strong opposition from Uhuru’s Mt Kenya backyard.
For instance, Kikuyu council of elders has affirmed the community does not owe anyone a political debt regarding the next General Election. Ruto in the recent past has been seen as a lone ranger after announcing his interest for the top seat particularly when the Head of State directed politicians to focus on development agenda.
He has been meeting section of leaders drawn from various counties in what looks like he is setting the ball rolling.
