Former Mukurweini MP Kabando wa Kabando together with former Lamu Woman Rep Shakila Abdalla have been appointed as chairpersons of two government Parastatals.

Kabando will serve as chairperson of the Board of the Local Authorities Provident Fund while Ms. Abdalla will head the Child Welfare Society of Kenya.

Kabando lost the Mukurweini parliamentary seat to Jubilee’s Anthony Gathiaka Kiai in 2017. He had vied as an independent candidate.

In the same election, Ms. Abdalla battled for the Lamu Woman Rep seat with five other candidates but lost to Ruweida Obo (Jubilee party).
Ms. Abdalla disputed the election results claiming that there were irregularities.

In 2015, she served as Deputy Party leader for Wiper Democratic Movement. On Wednesday, the Gazette notice also listed Kembi Gitura and Adams Oloo as chairperson and members respectively of two Parastatal bodies.

Gitura is now the Non-Executive Chairperson of the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority while Oloo is as a member of the Kenya School of Government Council.

Gitura was the Deputy Speaker of the Senate between 2013 and 2017 while Oloo is the former Secretary General of The National Alliance (TNA) party. Renowned lawyer Ambrose Weda has also been selected as a member of the Lake Basin Development Authority.

All the appointments are for a period of three years.
