DP William Ruto’s open frolicking with scandalous politicians could be the genesis of his tribulations.

it is highly disturbing that the Kenyan politician throws all morality out of the window in cultivating friends who might be worth a few votes.

Mr Ruto is not an ordinary Kenyan, or politician, who would not raise eyebrows for standing by a friend who falls afoul of the law. He is the Deputy President of Kenya.

This makes him a key player in the Executive arm, a powerful official who not just provides political leadership, but also exercises broad supervisory powers over all functions of government.

According to Murathe: He (Ruto) is in court for example with his lawyer Ahmednassir fighting the issue of Weston for example. There are allegations of his involvement in the maize scandal where farmers in Rift Valley were shortchanged. The sugar scandal it came the other day…and everytime these things are pointing fingers at an individual as either the God-father or getting involved.

Ruto’s association with the corrupt and scandalous activities has put him on the spot.

Obado murder – ran to Ruto
Lenolkulal corruption – ran to Ruto
Waititu corruption – runs to Ruto

Beleaguered Samburu governor Moses Kasaine Lenolkulal must be hoping for better tidings of sorts. At 43, he is riding through turbulent times as he battles graft charges in court.

Mr Lenokulal denied four counts including conspiracy to commit an offence of corruption, abuse of office and conflict of interest and unlawful acquisition of public property.

The governor is said to have committed the offence, alongside others, between March 27, 2013 and March 25, 2019 at Maralal town. The court heard that they conspired to commit the offence of corruption, which led to unlawful payment of Sh84.69million, paid to Mr Lenolkulal through a petrol station known as Oryx Service Station.

The Estranged Samburu Governor Moses Kasaine is a close ally of Deputy President William Ruto and has been spotted attending a series of functions in the company of Governor Ferdinand Waititu.

Deputy President William Ruto was Sunday evening under heavy criticism from Members of Parliament for rushing to the defence of his close ally in the Mt Kenya region, Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu, who is accused of misappropriating close to Sh2.5 billion through questionable expenditure at the county in the last financial year.

This is the second time in three months the DP is facing criticism for appearing to defend graft suspects. Earlier this year, he was roundly censured for claiming that only Sh7 billion was lost in the Kimwarer and Arror dams scandal despite detectives saying more than Sh20 billion was suspected to have been pilfered
