Why Mose Fan Fan Composed High-Riding ‘Papa Lolo’ Song

The death of London-based Congolese rhumba artiste Mose Fani Fani has caught many by surprise on Saturday early morning.

The ‘Papa Lolo’ hit maker tragically collapsed while on a recording tour in Nairobi on May 3, 2019.

Mose will be remembered for releasing many thrilling songs like Africa Moto, Mama Yeye, Mamisa, Sikulu, Hello Hello, Buka Bisengo, Nawa For You, Kwala Rumba, Sole B’Nite, Engombi, Bana Ba Congo, Mali ya Mungu, Anita Belle, Zenda, Lipopo Ville.

However, the one that has sent his fans frenzy is the famous ‘Papa Lolo’

The high-riding song barely misses being played in entertainment places every day. Many cherish the song despite not understanding the meaning of lyrics used.

In an exclusive interview in 2017 with Jane Ngoiri of NTV, Mose explained what drove him to compose the song.

He said that the song is dedicated to someone you so much cherish and has left you. For him, he dedicated the song to his son whom he loved so much but unfortunately passed on.

‘Papa’ means father (Mose) and ‘Lolo’ means son (His late son).
