A civil rights organization seeking to fight for the rights of tenants in Nairobi has been unveiled.
The Social Conscious Initiative Organization aims at protecting Kenyans from common forms of harassment like disconnection of electricity and water and also being thrown out of houses due rent arrears.
Speaking to local media, Philip Mukabwa CEO of the organization says that landlords and agents have taken advantage of tenants lack of knowledge of on the housing and property law hence the harassment.
Mukabwa says the organization will mostly work with Kenyans mostly from the informal settlements.
So will this mean tenants will start frustrating landlords because they are protected?
