Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu is a man staring at possible prosecution and Jail if the latest accusations labelled against him are anything to go by.

Thursday will forever be a day to remember for the embattled governor who was corned by the Senate to explain why his government had a number of dubious expenditures.

Waititu found it hard explaining why over 1 billion shillings meant for county projects was allocated for a number of functions that are meant for the National Government.

The Kiambu County budget had allocations set aside for State House functions, benefits for retired presidents, Free Primary Education and South Sudan peace program. These are functions of the National Government and are not in anyway associated with the County Government.

Auditor General Edward Ouko had raised the red flag over the expenditures recorded in Kiambu and Waititu was called by the Senate to shed some light on the same.

True to Ouko’s report, Waititu allocated 973 Million to Coordination of Statehouse functions while also allocating 180 Million Shillings to Administering benefits for Retired Presidents.

Waititu did not stop there, he also allocated Ksh.591 million on State corporations advisory service.

With the above suspicious allocations, the Kiambu County Chief has been accused of embezzlment of public funds with a number of leaders from the area calling for his arrest and prosecution.

The latest to join the calls for a Waititu arrest is Kiambu MP Jude Njomo who on Thursday urged the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission to investigate the Kiambu county over massive looting of public funds by governor Ferdinand Waititu’s administration.
