Why the government want to ban Kenya “Ua” buses completely

The fate of Thika road transit bus company Kenya Mpya now hangs at the balance after Kenyans now claims that they are faulty and are controlled by the reckless drivers.

Once they started operating along Thika Road five years ago, the business was booming, Kenyan celebrated little did they knew it would bring misfortunes to thousands of families.

The National transport and safety authority (NTSA) has been petitioned by Kenyan to restricts the users from operating.

Kenyans claim that the buses almost cause accidents every first week of the month.

Former Nairobi County Deputy Governor Jonathan Mueke had distanced himself from claims he owns the notorious Kenya Mpya buses that ply the Thika Road-City Centre route.

The buses are known to ignore traffic rules as the owners are said to be ‘untouchable.’

Mueke had that his business interests are in real estate and ICT.

Kiambu Governor William Kabogo had threatened to restrict Kenya Mpya buses from operating in Thika and its environs if they fail to conform to the traffic regulations.

Speaking at Rwaitiria Village in Gatanga in Muranga’a on Saturday during the burial of Onesmus Kimani Ndung’u, the Vice chairman of the Ngoyoyo 237 who was killed in a road crash involving a Kenya Mpya bus two weeks ago, Kabogo said that he will not tolerate rogue PSV operating in the county.

“The management of Kenya Mpya buses must quickly put their operations in order if they want to continue operating in Thika because we cannot allow their buses to kill innocent people and cause mayhem through accidents,” said governor Kabogo.
