Mudavadi moves to Taita in support of bodaboda operators

ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi, in support of Bodaboda operators in Taita Taveta County on Monday held a funds drive.

This, ahead of Labour Day on Wednesday, Mr Mudavadi said, was to “urge all bodaboda operators and other casual labourers to embrace a saving culture and discipline,” he said.

This is as the bodaboda business has been proven to be a fast money maker in the country’s economy.

Revenue from the boda boda sub-sector is estimated to have hit Ksh 219 billion last year, according to the Motorcycle Assemblers Association of Kenya (MAAK).

The association estimates that there are at least 600,000 commercial motorcycles in Kenya each taking home an average of Ksh 1,000 per day. In contrast, a 14-seater matatu brings in a profit of about Sh3,500 daily.
