Easily dismissed as a stone-throwing ruffian, Kiambu Governor Waititu is the underdog who fought the better educated Dr Evans Kidero to the wire for the Nairobi Governor’s seat in 2013.
He later hopped over to Kiambu to kick the sophisticated and wealthy William Kabogo out of the governor’s mansion.
In August last year, Nairobi governor Mike Sonko leaked a phone conversation between him and his Kiambu counterpart Ferdinand Waititu. The dramatic conversation involved Waititu urging Sonko to ‘release’ his wife.

They were arrested by a multi-sectoral team comprising Nairobi County inspectorate officers in an ongoing crackdown targeting properties built on riparian or on government land.
Waititu also denied that his wife and children did business with the county government. Instead, the governor said he bought the two buildings using proceeds from the sale of his two petrol stations along Kangundo Road.
Nobody has heard of the mentioning of the case ever since Waititu’s wife was arraigned in court. The building has now been completed. Pictures have been making rounds on Twitter, with Kenyans doubting the sincerity of the war on graft. Below are some reactions by Netizens:
