In a dramatic move on the unsuspecting MCAs, sleuths drawn from the EACC descended on a group of two Members of the County Assembly for receiving bribes.
The MCAs-Hon. David Mberi, MCA Langata/Karen Ward and Hon. Jared Okoth, MCA Mathare North were arrested during the sting operation that caught them completely unaware.
The MCAs would later be dragged to a parked car just close by, and driven to the EACC Police station.
However, one slippery MCA Hon. Abraham Mwangi of Woodley/Kenyatta Golf Course Ward miraculously evaded the arrest and took off!
A chase ensued but the detectives could not match his speed. A manhunt has been launched to establish his whereabouts.
Why They were Arrested
The Nairobi MCAs were arrested after detectives drawn from the EACC received intelligence that they had received bribes from a private developer who had encroached public land.
The three MCAs happen to be members of a County Committee, and were charged with the responsibility of writing a report on a grabbed parcel of land in Eastleigh where a Private school had been built.
EACC indicated that the three had received a Sh1 million bribe from the school’s management in order to write a favourable report on the land.
Their case awaits hearing Monday.
