An Embu Muguka trader was found guilty of raping a waitress after promising her greener employment pastures with the Kenya Forest Service.
45-year-old Robert Njeru was found guilty by an Embu court of indecently touching the woman and forcing himself on her sexually.
Njeru is reported to have familiarized himself to the woman and promised her a better paying job with the Kenya Forest Service.
On the day he was to take her to the new job, he led her to a bush in Kamiu village and raped her at knifepoint.
The woman further told the court that Njeru also took her phone and wanted her to transfer Sh5000 to him but she did not have.
Ruling over the case on Wednesday, Embu Chief Magistrate Maxwell Gicheru sentenced Njeru to 10 years imprisonment, despite his defence that police had framed him after he refused to give bribe.
