The Easter festivities has started on a wrong note for the people of Mtongwe in Likoni after an unfortunate incident saw a Deputy Officer Commanding Likoni Police Station named Joab Omondi shoot dead his girlfriend before turning the gun on himself to take his life.
According to witnesses, Omondi went to Lovely bar and ordered that the music be put off. He did not talk to anyone and when asked if there was a problem, he said everything was okay.
He would later pull out his pistol and fire a shot in the air. Omondi would later hit one of the customers before shooting dead a lady identified as Ms Peninah Kaimenyi.
After shooting Ms. Kaimenyi on the head, he turned the gun on himself and shot himself dead.
The Motive of OCS Omondi’s attack is still unknown even as police revealed that they have launched investigations on the same.
Residents of Likoni are now asking the government to beef up security in the area after the Unfortunate incident.
Meanwhile, the woman’s remains have been transferred to the Coast General Hospital Mortuary.
Police also recovered 11 bullets from Omondi’s pistol.
