On Wednesday evening,Kenyans waited for a show that they expected a drama between two jubilee protagonist members Ngunjiri Wambugu and Kimani Ichungwa.
Wambugu MP for Nyeri township and a representative of Kieleweke that defends president Uhuru Kenyatta.
On the defensive is Team Tanga Tanga, led by Deputy President William Ruto. This is the group in the ruling Jubilee Party that all along assumed that he would be the party’s automatic flag-bearer and President Kenyatta’s successor, based on a 2013 gentleman’s agreement.
Over the last one year Wambugu and his team members among them Maina Kamanda has accused Ruto of being corrupt and disrespectful to the head of state.
Ngunjiri said that Ruto has been traversing the country selling the 2022 agenda while the president is against it.
“I support president Uhuru 100% and I can’t follow anyone who works against him, the DP has been accused of stealing public money, he conducts campaigns against Uhuru and he isn’t respectful,” he said.
ODM deputy leader Hassan Joho and Suna East MP Junet Mohamed, a key Raila ally, claimed Ruto has an elaborate plan to decamp from the ruling coalition and use Raila as a scapegoat.
On live show,Ichungwa said that section of the Jubilee is working in cohort with the opposition to kill Ruto’s presidency.
Ichungwa said that the 2013 agreement pact is intact and Uhuru has an obligation to support the DP.
“You know that opposition is working with the Kieleweke to taint the name of the DP,”Ichungwa said.
He accused Raila Odinga of using kieleweke colleagues to divide President Uhuru Kenyatta’s party.
“Former ODM advisers who are now in Jubilee should not accept to be used by their external masters who are known agents of deceit, discord, and division. They thrive in politics of chaos and confusion,” he said.
The lawmakers accused Raila of hiding behind the truce with Uhuru to not only rock Jubilee but also to divide the country with the sole aim of stopping DP Ruto’s 2022 presidency.
