A woman in Kangemi has been in shock for close to a year now after her 4 year old baby started receiving her periods after hitting four years.
When she found out, the woman says she immediately took her to a nearby hospital where she was advised to wait for the next month to see if the periods would recur.
To her surprise, she notes, the same thing happened 30 days from her first period.
On going back to the hospital, her daughter was diagnosed with an inflamed hypothalamus, the part of the brain which controls growth and development, she notes.
This meant that confused impulses were being sent to the girl’s reproductive system, making her reproductive organs grow abnormally fast.
Her Teacher confesses that she usually has problems relating with her classmates due to uncontrolled mood swings during her 3 days monthly period.
The teacher tries her best to talk her into accepting the situation as a normal thing, though she is still too young to fully understand what’s happening to her.
The average age to get period sits at around 12.5 years old but some girls get their period as young as 7 or 8 – known as precocious puberty.
