Barcelona matchday squad vs Manchester United Confirmed as Spanish giants receive double fitness boost

Barca host Man Utd in the Champions League on Tuesday night with a spot in the semi-finals up for grabs.Barcelona’s matchday squad for their game against Manchester United has been confirmed by the Spanish club.

Sergi Roberto and Ivan Rakitic, who were ruled out of Barca’s La Liga game at Huesca on Saturday through injury and illness respectively, have both made the cut.

The 18-man squad is made up of exactly the same players that were in Ernesto Valverde’s matchday squad for the first leg at Old Trafford six days ago.

Speaking in his press conference on Monday ahead of the match, Barcelona manager Valverde said he is wary of United’s ability to score late goals.

“We know the opposition will want to counter-attack us but we won’t let that happen by playing well with the ball and moving the ball quickly,” he said. “It’s not a defensive question, it’s more about going forward.

“It’ll be important how we start and finish the game. United in the last minutes have something special. We’ve seen that at the Camp Nou before.
