Kim Kardashian could be your lawyer in 3 years

It looks like when its all said and done, Kim Kardashian wants to be known for something more than a reality starlet and makeup mogul. The soon-to-be mother of four just shocked the world with her latest announcement. Apparently, the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star wants to make a major career move, and it’s in a field that no one was expecting.

Though Kardashian hasn’t exactly been politically minded, socially aware, or opinionated in the past, that’s all changed in the last couple of years. The KKW Beauty mogul has been a staunch advocate for prison reform, and getting formally incarcerated people released and settled. Now, it looks like she’s ready to follow in her late father –Robert Kardashian’s footsteps.

Is Kim Kardashian going to law school?

In her May 2019 cover interview with Vogue –Kim Kardashian announced that she is studying to become a lawyer. However, she’s not going the traditional law school route. Kardashian is currently doing a four-year apprenticeship with a San Francisco law firm.

Apparently, she hopes to take the bar exam in 2022 when her apprenticeship is complete. She revealed that she was inspired by the work she did on Alice Maria Johnson’s case. Johnson was freed last year after serving 20-years on a life sentence for a nonviolent drug offense. Kardashian explained,

I had to think long and hard about this. The White House called me to advise to help change the system of clemency, and I’m sitting in the Roosevelt Room with, like, a judge who had sentenced criminals and a lot of really powerful people and I just sat there, like, Oh, sh *t.

I need to know more. I would say what I had to say, about the human side and why this is so unfair. But I had attorneys with me who could back that up with all the facts of the case.

It’s never one person who gets things done; it’s always a collective of people, and I’ve always known my role, but I just felt like I wanted to be able to fight for people who have paid their dues to society. I just felt like the system could be so different, and I wanted to fight to fix it, and if I knew more, I could do more.

How will Kim Kardashian deal with people saying she’s not smart enough to become a lawyer?

Now that she’s announced her turn into the legal field, Kardashian can certainly expect a lot of naysayers who believe she isn’t cut out to be a lawyer. However, the KUWTK star is ready to let it all roll off of her back. She told Vogue, “I love to be put in a situation where I can have a conversation with someone who might not be inclined to think much of me,because I can guarantee they will have a different opinion and understand what’s important to me after they’ve met me.”
