A Nairobi family in Zimmerman were forced to undergo an unprecedented ordeal after their house help took off with their 6-year-old daughter.
The maid, Sharon Chepkoech used Mary Ndiga’s daughter to blackmail her.
She in a text demanded a Sh10,000 ransom in exchange for the child.
“She had stolen my clothes and had carried a knife in case the money was not sent she said I will never see my baby,” said Ms Ndiga.
A grateful Mary Ndiga was however later informed by police that they were able to catch up with the kidnapper and found child unharmed.
The girl, who has since been arrested, was grilled by officers from Kamukunji Police Station before being moved to Kiamumbi in Kiambu.
According to Mary Ndiga, the maid was employed two months ago.
“I thank God…luckily with help of friends and relatives the phone she was using was tracked and she was arrested…” said Ms Ndiga.
