Fresh details on the allocation of Ksh 21 billion dam funds has emerged after the Chief Executive Officer of the Lake Basin Development Authority Raymond Omollo came out claiming that the funds were to be allocated for construction of Magwagwa Multipurpose dam in Nyamira.

According to Mr Omollo “The fact is the Sh21 billion in question was meant for construction of Magwagwa Multipurpose dam in Nyamira. Until now, we don’t know how the money was shifted to those two other projects,”

In addition he said, “The dam is yet to kick off yet the LRDA was meant to have it handed over to it for maintenance this month. It was also to generate electricity besides serving irrigation schemes in Kisumu.”

This comes at a time when the DCI is head over heals investigating the loss of the money which apparently was mysteriously allocated to an Italian Firm which never delivered the services.

The investigation has seen several leaders record statements at the DCI headquarters including the Treasury Cabinet Secretary who the DCI said had a case to answer.

Others include CS Mwangi Kiunjuri and CS Eugene Wamalwa.

However, Deputy President refuted says the money was not lost claiming that the stories were lies and misleading.
