Hon Babu Owino, the Embakasi East Member Of Parliament took to twitter to send a condolence message to the family of Everlyn Namukhala , the woman who gave birth to five babies.

Taking to Twitter, the vocal MP blamed the Kenyan health system for “failing Kenyans” further expressing his condolences to the family of the deceased.

Babu Owino continued updating his tweet accordingly until he promised to take care of the other 3 surviving babies

Ms. Namukhula died on Sunday after complaining of chest pains at the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) where she was admitted with her quintuplets.

She hit the headlines when she gave birth to three girls and two boys through a Caesarean Section at Kakamega General Hospital on March 13, 2019.

She was, however, later transferred to MTRH in Eldoret after one of the babies developed complications.

Following news of her death, reports also emerged that two of the children had also died last week. Dr. Wilson Aruasa said the two baby boys were “very sick” when they were admitted to the hospital from Kakamega.

“There were five babies but the two boys were very sick and have also died. But the 3 girls are okay and growing well,” said Dr. Aruasa.

He added that tests conducted on Ms. Namukhula before her death showed that her heart as well as lungs were enlarged by fluids around them.

“She had been very well until Sunday morning when she complained that she was having difficulty in breathing with some headache also. So the doctor who was on duty put her on treatment for blood clotting and antibiotics and then ordered for tests to confirm what the problem was,” said the hospital boss.

“We lost her at about 12 midday after the test — a CT angiogram — was done which showed that the heart was enlarged with fluid around it and the lungs also had fluid.”

The deceased and her husband, Herbert Wawire, have four other children and lived in Sisokhe Village, Navakholo Constituency.
