Taxi driver charged for killing a two year old boy

A Nairobi taxi driver has been charged for causing the death of a two year old boy.

Paul Githinji Mberia was charged for careless driving on Old Baraka Road in Nairobi.

According to police the deceased and his grandmother had attended a church service but at some time the boy wanted to go outside and relieve himself.

The granny is reported to have accompanied the boy outside the church and left him playing with others. She would later hear screams and upon rushing to find out what was amiss, she saw his grandson stuck under a vehicle. Police said the minor had been hit by the car and was bleeding profusely.

The boy was rushed to Mama Lucy hospital where he succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment. Githinji was arrested for dangerous driving. He, however, denied the charges and was released on Sh100, 000 bond. The case will be mentioned today April 5.
