As robbery with violence with the city is on a constant rise, police on Wednesday morning were forced to shoot and kill three suspected thugs in a botched robbery in Lucky Summer area, Nairobi.
The three, according to the police, had broken into an apartment in the area armed with crude weapons and started terrorising the tenants.
Police on patrol responded to the tenants’s distress call and shot three suspects while two of their accomplices escaped on foot.
An assortment of household goods were recovered from the slain suspects.
Meanwhile, in another robbery incident, three men were on Tuesday arrested for allegedly stealing from a Chinese Water Tunnel Construction Company at Mairi site, Nairobi.
The suspects – Paul Maina Muniu, Peter Ndua Kilele and Ezekiel Maina Mwangi – were arrested after a burglary was reported at the construction site.
The arrest came after several items, which were earlier reported stolen from the company, were found in the men’s possession.
In the Coast, seventeen members of the outlawed Mombasa Republic Council aged between 41 years and 84 yeas were arrested Tuesday morning in Diani.
The suspects were nabbed as they assembled at a house in Kibundani area. Membership registers and contributions confiscated-to be arraigned before Kwale Law Courts tomorrow.
