Losses! Busiest Eastleigh market is in lockdown as traders protest

Nairobi’s buzzing Eastleigh market has remained closed Wednesday following serious protests by traders over hefty taxes imposed on cargo by Kenya Revenue Authority, KRA.

Customers who travelled from all corners of the country found themselves stranded as shops in the market remain closed until the unfair levies imposed are lifted.

Reports show that Cargo Companies are now required to pay Ksh. 12 Million from Ksh. 800,000.

Business in Eastleigh is now on lockdown as the traders were joined by Kamukunji MP Yusuf Hassan in condemning the unfair tax levies on cargo companies that are crippling the Eastleigh economy.
