With Manchester United reported to be in the market for a central defender, Mikael Silvestre has urged Ole Gunnar Solskjaer against making a move for Barcelona center back Samuel Umtiti.
Since the summer transfer window last year, United were reported to be looking for a central defender and have been linked with a number of names including Harry Maguire, Toby Alderweireld, Jerome Boateng, Raphael Varane and Milan Skriniar. United have been leaky in defense this season and have kept only two clean sheets at home in the league which came in the barren draws against Crystal Palace and Liverpool.
Speaking to your-promotional-code.co.uk, Silverster revealed that Umtiti is not a United caliber signing, “Manchester United will always look to sign players with the X-factor, but I don’t see Samuel Umtiti as necessarily a Manchester United player. I think Eric Bailly has all the qualities Man United need in defence but United will always target the best, so who knows who might come in and they will always look to strengthen the squad. For me the focus would be the midfield.”
