Afghanistan - people wade through flood water in Herat

Afghanistan which faced drought last year have woken to a deadly flash flood which has claimed lives.

Flash floods in western Afghanistan have killed at least 32 people and some missing.

Thousands of homes have been destroyed by heavy rains, as have makeshift shelters housing displaced families.

Seven provinces have been affected by the flooding, with Faryab, Bagdhis and Herat bearing the brunt of the damage.

The disaster has added to the suffering of hundreds of thousands of people who were forced out of their homes because of severe drought in the region last year.

Poor infrastructure makes it hard for humanitarian workers to reach isolated areas.

This follows the deadly Cyclone Idai in South African countries which has killed more than 700 and now bearing cholera outbreak.

World aid and other organizations have taken their help of medication and food to thousands who were displaced.
