Uproar as Gor Mahia is Barred from accessing Kasarani Stadium

The highly anticipated CAF Confederations Cup Clash between KPL Giants Gor Mahia and Morocco’s Berkane has been thrown in limbo because there may be no venue to host the match.

Gor host their North African opponents on 7th April but they will be forced to look for another venue as they have been told Kasarani Stadium has been booked for a Business Expo.

Gor has been playing its international matches at Kasarani, because of lack of other CAF approved facilities in the country. The government has delayed the opening of the Nyayo International Stadium.

Kasarani is under the Sports Stadia Management Board and it is not clear how they rented the stadium to an expo, knowing that there was an upcoming international match.

Before the opening up of Kasarani, Gor were allowed to play their CAF matches at the Machakos Stadium but it is highly doubtful that CAF can approve such at the moment.

Gor fans are now threatening to storm the Expo if the stadium is not allowed to host the most important match in the club’s rich history.

But this givernment is a big joke. You fail to build the required stadium, Sportpesa gives his all in maintaining one for football games, take the same stadium to book EXPO events when they have failed to make Nyayo available for games #KasaraniStadium— Oguda (@zaxoguda) March 29, 2019

I thought the SportsStadia management knew Gor Mahia had picked Kasarani for their home matches why this shenanigans again #KasaraniStadium— malu de bosque (@malubomboka) March 29, 2019
