Manchester United has at last settled on hiring Ole Gunner Solskjaer for a
permanent position on a three-year deal just after an Interim of three months.The Norwegian’s former team-mate Neville went on to warning that the club still has a lot of work to do.

For the three months Solskjaer had proven beyond doubt that he is all the club need. However, the Norwegian’s history proves otherwise. Wasn’t it too early for Manchester United to appoint Ole Gunnar permanently ?

Here are the four reasons why appointing Ole Gunnar permanently was Man United big mistake;

1 .Solskjaer does not have a good reputation at his former clubs

If you are a fan of Cardiff City or Molde you know what am about to say. Ole Gunnar was sacked after the Bluebirds were relegated under him winning only three of his 18 matches in charge. The reason for his sacking was because he couldn’t make way to the championship the following season.

Okay, you may argue that Cardiff didn’t have experienced players to make him win more but what about at Molde. Fine he won titles there which now takes me to my second point.

2. Solskjaer has a poor reputation in defense mechanism

One of the reasons why Jose Mourinho was not successful at Old Trafford was conceeding alot even though scoring was not a problem. At Cardiff Ole conceded 51 in 25 matches-18 in the premier league and 7 in the championship. To much worries, he conceded 222 in 183 matches at Molde which is a top side in Norway. And here we are appointing him permanently after conceding 15 in 19 matches for Manchester United with only nine clean sheets. Keeping a clean sheet is a problem. So is this the man sure of to give such a big role having no vast experience in managing big clubs?

3- Solskjaer’s transfer window record

During his tenure at Cardiff City and Molde, he was not under pressure of signing a world class player such as Bale, Lewandoski etc. Manchester United is a world class team with ambitions of winning the champions league and the English premier league therefore it needs world class players not average ones. To do so, a budget of around £300M will be allocated for transfer. Ole will have sleepless nights wondering who to sign because he has never handled such big budgets.

P

Wenger’s most expensive signing came recently for £55M (Aubameyang) and that took a while after Ozil’s £42.5M in 2013 thats when the bank overflew to sign big in likes of Alexander Lacazette, Granit Xhaka etc. If that is so, what about Ole Gunnar whom we have not seen his sharpness in the transfer window. Are we sure of his signings come summer.

4- Club’s objectives accomplishment

When Ole Gunnar took charge as interim manager at the Theatre of Dreams, one of the reasons to his success was that the players wanted to show Mourinho he was the one on the wrong. They also tried to show that his defence style of play was not going to work and this was not going to last for long trying to downgrade a long gone manager.

Finally he was there to bring in unity and team spirit but not to win any title rather the top four chase. Trust you me, in the beginning of next season the board will state an objective of winning the league and champions league. These are just heavier tasks for the baby faced assassin.

Do you agree it is the wrong time to appoint Ole Gunnar permanently at such a time?
