A pilot killed himself after he intentionally crashed a plane into a building where his wife was attending a baby shower.
The New York Post reports that South African Charl Viljoen had an argument with his wife after he showed up unannounced at a baby shower and started to physically attack her.
Viljoen left the venue and drove to Botswana’s capital, Gaborone where he stole a KingAir 200 aircraft. Before crashing the plane, Viljoen flew over the venue multiple times and called a friend who was attending the baby shower.
“He phoned his one mate on the ground there who was still at the party, and he wanted to know where his wife was. The guy that he called started shouting so that everybody could run away.”
The building was immediately evacuated by the Matseing Flying Club before Viljoen crashed the plane. He was the only one killed in the crash and destroyed the clubhouse, control tower, and 13 vehicles.
No one else was injured during the crash and it is currently being investigated by local authorities.
