Jonah Gwaro, 37, was nabbed on Tuesday at his home in Kerongorori village, Kenyenya in Kisii County after brutally beating neighbors son for having an illicit affair with his daughter.
Kenyenya sub-county police boss Isaac Thuranira said the suspect beat up the victim Joel Maangu after he found him on the road.
“Gwaro descended on helpless Maangu with kicks and blows when he found him (Maangu) returning home from a local shop. It took the intervention of passersby to stop the suspect from beating the victim,” Thuranira said.
He said the victim was rushed to Kenyenya sub-county hospital for treatment following serious injuries he sustained during the attack.
“Angry residents turned against the suspect, beat him up before police officers on patrol rescued him. Upon questioning he claimed that he beat Maangu because he had warned him several times to stop chasing after his daughter for love in vain,” said the police boss.
The suspect is expected to be arraigned in court to face assault charges.
