Amount from county disaster fund to be used to support Matuu accident victim’s families

Unfortunately majority of tragic Matuu accident victims in the early morning crash were residents of Mandera including the security officers of Governor Ali Roba.

At least 14 people were killed in a road accident involving a bus at Matuu in Machakos County early Wednesday.

Those killed include 13 adults and a child, while more than 10 others have been taken to Matuu Level Four Hospital.

According to Yatta police boss Njoroge Karanja, the accident occurred when the bus heading to Nairobi from Mandera rammed into a stationary truck.

Following the incident,Governor Roba said Ksh.3 million will be used to support families who lost their loved ones, while the other half will cater for medical bills of the survivors.

The victims are set to receive support from a Ksh.6 million kitty set aside by the Mandera County Government.

While unveiling the fund, Governor Ali Roba said the money, being part of the county disaster fund, will assist families of the 15 people who perished in the accident and 27 others who were injured.
