All Eyes on Nicholas Kipkirui as Gor take on Zoo Kericho

KPL holders Gor Mahia return to league action with a mouthwatering clash against Zoo Kericho at the Kericho Green Stadium. The match kicks of at 3PM.

Nicholas Kipkirui, the lethal Gor forward already looks to have taken the man of the match award as he visits his former club for the first time since making the big switch to Gor early this year.

The 22 year old striker made his name in Kericho where he scored 16 goals in two seasons in the KPL. He is still a fan favorite and is also looking forward to the match.

“Finally am coming home! The dynamics of professional football will see me play against the side that made me who am in hunt for maximum points.” Kipkirui said on his Facebook Page.

” Kericho’s pride a resilient and unpredictable team. The fans and The Kericho Green Stadium atmosphere is always lit and full of energy. It is going to be an exciting and entertaining match for both sides who have some common bond and expectations.”

Gor coach Hassan Oktay has already fired up the striker after he publicly questioned why he was not included in the Kenya u23 squad that was embarrassingly knocked out of AFCON qualifiers by Sudan.

“I can only see players from Kariobangi Sharks and Mathare United, two teams and I have a lot of great talent in my squad, even Nicholas Kipkirui is 22, but they did not pick him and I don’t understand why.”

Kipkirui has been in fine form this season scoring 4 goals in the League and two in the CAF Confederations Cup. Gor fans think he should in fact be in the senior national team.

The noise will get louder if he performs against his former side. Gor go into the match looking to pile pressure on KPL leaders Bandari and Sofapaka.

They are currently 3rd on the log, with 32 points but have games in hand and can comfortably retain their title on current form.

They have not lost a league match since January this year and the nine goals they have concede is the lowest in the league.
