At the University of Nairobi, comrades used to say that they calmed rioting police during demonstrations. But this was during the time when Babu Owino was the President.
Babu is the master of demos, he enjoys it! To him, demos are the only solution to problems facing man kind. He thrived when HELB refused to disburse money and he had to lead comrades to Anniversary Towers.
Well, that is long time ago and Babu is now an honorable member of the National Assembly, representing the Wananchi of Embakasi East.
But it seems he has not forgotten his campus days, as he led Wananchi from Soweto and Baraka Estate in Kayole to a massive demonstration on Tuesday. The residents were complaining against a stalled road project.
The demo took a different turn when police arrived as wananchi could not withstand the peeper laced tear gas.
‘Everyone who owns a car in this estate repairs their car every week. That should end now’ one of the residents complained.
According to residents, the contractor has not been on site for the past three months. There has also been increased insecurity because of the security lights were removed.
Babu has commanded the contractor to report to work within one day or the contract be given to another person.
