Uhuru, Ruto in crash meeting as DCI plans arrests of top Govt officers

Details have emerged on what exactly made President Uhuru Kenyatta go to Deputy President Ruto’s Harambee Annex office days after the Directorate of Criminal Investigations promised the arrest of high-ranking government officials.

After the President’s motorcade was spotted at DP’s offices, Kenyans became rife with speculations, with some indicating that Mr Kenyatta had gone to dissipate the tension and end the suspected bad-blood between him and his deputy.

Lunch?

Sources told the Star that the President joined Ruto for lunch with the nature of their discussion unclear.

The President is scheduled to leave for Mombasa after the meeting with his deputy.

There are still scanty details on whether the two have discussed matters related to Jubilee or official government business.

It is a very rare occurrence for Uhuru to visit Ruto at either his Harambe Annex or official residence in Karen.

The visit comes at a time when Jubilee MPs have demanded that Uhuru meets them to discuss the growing rifts within the ruling party.

This, they have said, should happen before the State of the Nation Address expected on April 4.

Impeachment motion

There have been calls from the opposition to impeach Ruto.

Siaya Senator James Orengo proposed the impeachment of Deputy President.

Orengo vowed on Sunday to institute an impeachment motion against Ruto.

The Senate Minority Leader said a Deputy President can be kicked out of office if it’s found that he or she has violated the Constitution or any other law.
