Obado said that Migori County is among counties in the country that have witnessed violence of the great magnitudes, a majority of which are related to elections.

The Governor told the team that also in the list of perpetration of violence were elected leaders from the region whom he accused of incitement and unnecessary intimidation.

He said that his recent tribulations, corruption and murder allegations, were politically fuelled.

“Instead of allowing the agencies mandated to tackle corruption cases, some politicians have resorted to witch hunting and divisive politics just to taint me on the negative,” Obado said.

Some of the locals who spoke also called on the team to help reform the electoral country ’s system.

Abedi Maroa, a resident of Migori pointed a finger at the security department saying they have been colluding with bad elements in the society.

“Police reforms should be implemented and not just read on papers as is the case. We need to see the perpetrators who plunder public property brought to book.” Maroa said.
