After disappointing many and finding himself in public humiliation that demanded he offers apology, the empire star cast Jussie Smollett has reigned as a hero and victim following court outcome in his falsifying police report charge over racist and homophobic attack on him.
“Today all criminal charges against Jussie Smollett were dropped and his record has been wiped clean of the filing of this tragic complaint against him,” Smollett’s attorneys said in a statement. “Jussie was attacked by two people he was unable to identify. He was a victim. He was vilified and made to appear as a perpetraitor as a result of false and inappropriate remarks made to the public causing an inappropriate rush to judgment.”
They added: “Jussie and many others were hurt by these unfair and unwarranted actions. The entire situation is a reminder that there should never be an attempt to prove a case in the court of public opinion. That is wrong.”
Smollett who is black and openly gay was arrested by police in Chicago on Feb. 21, three weeks after the alleged attack.
Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson was furious with Jussie then stating, “Smollett took advantage of the pain and anger of racism to promote his career.”
“This stunt was orchestrated by Smollett because he was dissatisfied with this salary. He concocted a story about being attacked,” Johnson said. “We gave him the benefit of the doubt.”
Johnson told a news conference, adding that the actor paid the brothers $3,500 to stage the supposed hate crime.
Well will he still be angry at Jussie?
