Former Funyula MP Paul Otuoma has warned against politicizing the war on graft.

Otuoma backed opposition leader Raila Odinga in the ongoing verbal exchange between his camp and Deputy President William Ruto’s quarters.

Speaking on Tuesday, the former Busia gubernatorial aspirant defended the former Premier from Ruto’s claims that he is out to engineer the ruling Jubilee Party’s collapse using his closeness to president Uhuru Kenyatta.

Raila has been under criticism from Ruto’s camp lately, with the DP accusing him of infiltrating state institutions to fuel the ongoing anti-corruption campaign.

But speaking on Radio Maisha’s Bunge La Maisha show on Tuesday morning, Otuoma noted that the war on graft is a nationally accepted move that should not be attributed to the veteran politician.

“Haitakuwa vyema kumuingiza Raila katika haya maneno ya ufisadi maana hili ni jambo linaloungwa mkono na wakenya wote” said Otuoma. (It will not be okay to mention Raila in these matters of corruption, since this is a nationally accepted move)

He also stressed on the need for the issue to be left in the hands of the relevant groups, urging the interfering forces to quit sabotaging the same by repeatedly firing shots at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

“Wanasiasa wasiingilie haya mambo sana,” he opined. (let politicians keep off these matters).
