President Uhuru Kenyatta is expected to address the state of the nation on April 4th 2019.
According to the notice on parliament of Kenya facebook post,both senate and national assembly members are expected to have a joint sitting to listen to the head of the state.
” President Uhuru Kenyatta will deliver State of the Nation Address to Parliament on Thursday April 4th 2019 at 2.30pm. This is in pursuant to Article 132(1)(b) of the Constitution which empowers His Excellency the President of Kenya and Commander in Chief of the Kenya Defence Forces to perform such a function. During such a function both Houses The National Assembly and The Senate hold a joint sitting to listen to the Presidential address,”the post read.
Political analysts have said that among the issues that the head of state will address will range from fight against corruption and the current drought in some counties.
The centre-piece of President Kenyatta’s address is likely touch on the progress of the implementation of his Big Four Agenda which seeks to ensure food security, affordable housing, manufacturing and affordable healthcare.
Kenyans across the country will be keenly following the event to see what the President will have to say on a number of key issues that have dominated national discourse.
Unlike President Kenyatta’s 2016 address that saw him heckled and shouted down,president Uhuru will have a calm moments as the opposition will have to respect the spirit of the handshake.
