Nicki Minaj is currently wrapping up the European leg of her Nicki World Tour for her latest album, Queen. Though many of the tour dates have gotten solid reviews-calling it sublime and mammoth–other fans have been left severely disappointed. Despite her extensive career and countless bangers like “Barbie Dreams” –with a number of tour cancelations, Minaj has been struggling to find her footing on her tour.
Why does Nicki Minaj keep canceling her tour dates?
In late Feb. and early March 2019 –Minaj canceled two of her tour dates –one in Bratislava, Slovakia and the other one in Bordeaux, France. Both shows were canceled at the last minute when fans had already entered the venue. This prompted angry fans to chant “Cardi B!” –who happens to be Minaj’s nemesis. Minaj apologized for both cancelations citing technical reasons. On Instagram, the rapper posted a video saying,
You guys, it’s not in my best interest not to perform and lose money and aggravate my fans. I love performing for my fans. I’m more excited than you are before the show. These two cities that had technical issues were cities that I’d never been to before, and we tried to add them but they just didn’t have the power in the building to facilitate my show and they didn’t tell us that until three hours before the show, as opposed to once we did sound check, they said it was fine.
Nicki Minaj canceled another concert because of weather
Technical issues did raise a few eyebrows, especially since tours are calculated down to the last megawatt and voltage. However, Minaj’s most recently cancelation was out of her hands. The Queens native canceled her tour in Dublin, Ireland because of the weather.
The rapper was forced to cancel her Dublin concert because of “adverse weather conditions.” Though full refunds have been offered to fans–the date will not be rescheduled. The harsh winds prevented Minaj’s staging equipment from arriving in a timely manner. The Barbs were not pleased. One fan tweeted, “Words cannot describe the feeling of standing in line for over seven hours for someone you‘ve been waiting to see since you were twelve.. only to find out they were never in the country and ultimately canceled their concert. Dublin were waiting. I’m so disappointed @nickiminaj.”
