Following the report of the death of Likoni Member of parliament Mishi Mboko’s brother Dr Hamisi Ali Juma in Cuba, many stories have been narrated over the poor lifestyle the Kenyan doctors on exchange programme are living abroad.
In confirmation of the stories Mboko has recounted how her brother, the late Dr Hamisi Ali Juma, complained about the poor living conditions in Cuba before his death on Sunday.
The MP was speaking on an interview with NTV when she stated that Dr Juma had told her “enough is enough”.
“Maybe two weeks or one week ago he had complained to me and he said that they were experiencing a lot of difficulties.
“He said that the payment they were getting is not what they had agreed [with the government] and he also complained about a lot of mistreatment, narrated the emotional MP.
Mishi was holding back tears recalling her brother’s dedication to the medical profession.
Before going to Cuba, Dr Juma had come from Russia where he spent seven years studying.
He was then sent to Cuba as the nominee for Mombasa County to study family medicine.
“In fact, he had decided that enough is enough and he’s coming back…he doesn’t need to study in Cuba anymore, that’s the last conversation I had with him,” the legislator told journalists.
