Those days when people actually had a stand and followed their conscience when making decisions seem to have totally disappeared as everyday man’s greed leads to some disturbing news over connected actions.

While politicians are busy letting us down with fighting for things we never elected them for,the police are busy protecting criminals that harm the same mwananchi who has hired them to protect Wanjiku.

A detective attached to the DCI has reportedly been arrested by police in Kilifi for allegedly soliciting and receiving bribe worth sh 40,000 from a hotel staff.

Constable Phenix Oduya Onyango, who was recently transferred to the Kilifi Police Station from Merti, Isiolo County was locked up at the Malindi station.

Before his arrest, Onyango was investigating a suicide case involving 22-year-old Grace Emalda Iminza, a third-year student at Pwani University.

“Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) detectives arrested the officer while receiving the treated money amounting to Ksh 40,000 from Hassan Nyale Kiti to avoid implicating him in the death,” a police source that sought anonymity told reporters.

Kiti is an employee at a hotel in Kilifi where the student also worked part-time as a waitress.

Iminza was found dead in the Indian Ocean at the Kilifi bridge in what is suspected to be suicide.

Even so members of the public and Pwani University suspected it was murder and not suicide.

“It is said the student alighted from a bodaboda near the bridge and walked towards the beach where she was found dead,” narrated one of the Pwani University students

The DCI officer is set to be arraigned in court and charged.
