Njoro high School closed after dormitory found flooded with petrol

Police and officials in the education sector have launched investigations to bring to book students who are suspected to have poured petrol in a dormitory that was waiting to be ignited.

Njoro boys high school has been closed indefinitely after one dormitory was set on fire and property f unknown value destroyed while another dormitory was found with petrol poured on the floor waiting the matchstick.

All students have been directed to go home until further notice as we conduct investigations to avert cases of arson,” said Dr. Mary Gaturu, the Rift valley Education Director.

In 2018, twenty five students were charged of destroying classrooms and dormitories worth Sh200,000.

The students pleaded not guilty before resident magistrate Yvonne Khatambi and were released on Sh50,000 bond each or a surety of similar amount or a cash bail of Sh30,000 with their parents standing surety.
