Ugandan Artist Eddy Kenzo opens up about his life in the streets

Ugandan Artist Eddy Kenzo has shared his life before fame and the hardships he went through before the big name.

Kenzo was in and out of the streets for a while and that is where he used to hustle from to make ends meet.

Speaking to Mseto East Africa, the Singer says that he does not regret the life in the streets since he got to learn a lot from that life.

“I learnt self-discipline, hard work, patience, I know what this life is made of, I can survive by all means, I am a hustler and a fighter” he said

Eddy Kenzo says that he believes he is who he is today because of the lessons he learnt on that path.

He also says that the street was his school and it is a space which taught him almost everything he needed to know about life.

On whether he went to school, Eddy Kenzo says that a good Samaritan took him to school after he saw him working and felt the need to support him.

Kenzo only went to primary school three and after the good Samaritan ran broke, he dropped him back in the streets.

He then joined a football team and was forced to lie when they asked him if he completed primary school.

Kenzo was then taken to secondary school and he admits it was a struggle since he has not completed primary school.

He also revealed that he used to steal food because he had no money.

“The only thing I used to steal was food from women who used to sell food in the nigh; I used to eat and run away because I had no money and I was so hungry but in my heart I am not a thief” he explained.

He also mentioned that he used to sell drugs as part of the hustle but this was something he did not like but was forced by the circumstances.

Eddy Kenzo is currently among the top musicians in Uganda who earned popularity beyond the local space.

Kenzo is famously known for his song ‘Sitya loss’ which currently has 17M views on YouTube.
