I was moved by the story of Rebecca Atieno, the homeless woman who defied all odds to give birth under a tree at Uhuru Park on Wednesday afternoon.

However painful her story is, Rebecca is a Luo lady, the community that has been for a very long time been used by Raila Odinga for selfish interests.

As Rebecca, was giving birth, Raila was planning the next war of words with Deputy President William Ruto about corruption.

The former Prime Minister has been making headlines over the alleged loss of more than sh 21 billion at the Arror and Kimwarer Dam Projects.

But is he honest when he bashes the DP, and keeps silent on corruption scandals involving Luo Politicians?

According to DPP Noordin Haji, more Luos have been arraigned in court to face corruption charges than Kalenjins since April 2018.

So why is Raila not speaking against this? I will tell you why. It is because he is a huge beneficiary of the proceeds of corruption.

The most prominent Luo to face corruption charges is Evans Kidero. The former Nairobi governor stole more than 1 billion during his time at city hall. Some of that money could have helped Rebecca get better healthcare.

Kidero was one of the chief financiers of ODM during the 2017 elections. He used the money he looted to sponsor Raila’s campaign. That is why Raila can never speak against him.

In Homa Bay County, the people have never seen development for the past six years because Raila forced Cyprian Awiti to be their governor. All Awiti has to do is bend the knee for Baba.

Busia governor Sospeter Ojamong may not be a Luo but he is still a member of Raila’s ODM Party. He is facing corruption charges in court but Raila cannot speak because he knows where the money went.

Raila has not moral authority to speak about corruption in Kenya.
