Will Kenya ever be corruption free? This is the question a good number of Kenyans are asking even as the Country continues to drown in Corruption as many Citizens still wallow in Poverty.
The Government has intensified the war on corruption but even at that, rogue individuals out to milk the country dry keep coming up with new ways to rob the nation.
It is also worth noting that despite the fact that investigative agencies have upped their game, no major meaningful prosecution has so far been made.
With this in mind,a man named Kipkorir Ngetich from Eldoret has suggested ways he believes the corruption dragon can be slayed.
According to him, the government should abolish the Sh1,000 and Sh500 currency notes to boost the war on graft.
Kipkorir has noted that a number of prominent Kenyans have stolen money and hidden it outside the banks.
He believes that if the big denomination notes are changed, those hiding them will be caught when they take them to the banks for the new currency.
He asked Parliament to initiate the process of changing the country’s currency and strengthen the legal framework to tackle corruption.
“There are so many people who have stolen billions of shillings and stashed the money under beds, in holes, bunkers and other areas. Much of the stolen money is in Sh1,000 and Sh500 notes,” Ngetich said after a meeting of civil society groups in Eldoret yesterday.
He said the war on graft will get a major boost if the government targets money hidden in homes and that stashed abroad by the corrupt.
