How long can you survive without your phone?

I did the unthinkable last week – I left home without my cellphone. And I did it intentionally.

I know, I know, it was very courageous of me. I can be quite adventurous when I put my mind to it. Even reckless.

I can’t remember the last time I left behind my beloved and ubiquitous smart phone, which is always within my grasp wherever I go. (Yes, even into the bathroom. No, not into the shower.)

My phone serves as my sidekick, my personal assistant and my security blanket all wrapped into one handheld device. It’s always next to me or on my person. As I write this column, it is lovingly and loyally staring up at me from my office desk, like my little electronic pet.

I don’t stroke it. I swipe it. A lot. It purrs with affection through cute little beeps, dings and other adorable noises. I’m smitten with its warm, reassuring affections. In return, I treat it with the utmost care.

So, how long can you stay without a phone?
