Sum of bribe in millions that has led to arrest of chief police inspector by flying squad

Soon after the Director of Public Prosecutions application managed to delay Joshua Waiganjo’s case where he is accused off impersonating a police officer, another top police officer has gone down in the same saga.

Flying Squad Detectives on Friday evening arrested Chief Inspector of Police Kennedy Omondi for allegedly impersonating Immigration officers.

Omondi was arrested alongside three other suspects, Stanilus Otieno, Eddie Obwaka & Boniface Omengi. However two other suspects escaped.

According to the detectives, the four were nabbed while trying to extort a Ksh 2 million bribe.

The arrests followed a report made by the complainants whose passports and other documents had been confiscated by the said ‘immigration officers.’

Reports indicated that the four had initially asked for a bribe of Ksh 10 million.
