A househelp in one of Nairobi’s estate has been found guilty of assaulting an employers child.

Mary Minayo Mushila had been charged with assaulting a two-year-old child on July 5, 2015 within Balozi estate in Nairobi’s South B area.

She is said to have been cruel to the child; pulling her hair and ears to inflict pain.

The accused is said to have mistreated the minor after her mother, travelled for two days – and left the little girl in the care of the house help.

It was after returning from her trip that the complainant noticed her child had cuts and bruises on her earlobes and pinch marks on the thighs.

A witness told the trial court that the minor had her hair ‘plucked out’ and that there were visible injuries on the scalp that prompted her mother to report the matter to authorities who arrested and charged Mushila.

She however denied the charges, claiming the minor plucked her own hair. But the court found her guilty and fined her Sh50,000 or six months jail term.
