Detectives arrest high rank officer while extorting Ksh2m bribe

A chief inspector of the police is among four people arrested by the detectives from the director of criminal investigations after collecting Ksh 2 million bribe after impersonating as immigration department officers.

According to detectives, Stanilus Otieno, Eddie Obwaka and Boniface Omengi and Chief Inspector Kennedy Omondi had demanded a Ksh10million bribe from complainants who had reported the matter to authorities.

Flying Squad Detectives have this evening arrested four people, among them a Chief Inspector of Police, who were impersonating @ImmigrationDept officers. Police laid trap for the four and nabbed them before they could recieve the amount.According to the police, two managed to escape as manhunt continues.

A statement from the police department read: The arrests followed a report made by the complainants whose passports&other documents had been confiscated by the said ‘immigration officers.’They asked for a bribe of 10M &were going to collect 2M when they were nabbed by Detectives. Two escaped; Pistol & ammunitions recovered.
