Camera captures two police officers stealing narcotics

Two police officers caught on camera stealing narcotics arrested

Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Saturday released a statement on twitter of two police officers were arrested stealing narcotics valued at about KSh 75 million.

Detectives from Serious Crimes Unit arrested the two after they were captured in a CCTV footage carting away the consignment which had been impounded from suspected traffickers.

The two; Alloys Onyango and Arbanus Mutunga had stolen 25kgs of heroin which had been confiscated from drug traffickers.

According to DCI, the officers tricked a drug trafficker to set up his two partners in crime, suspected to be owners of the consignment into a police dragnet.

“The officers used Peter Okoth Odongo, a drug trafficker, to lure two other traffickers and owners of the narcotics; Alfric Odhiambo Otieno and Kenneth Sinzore to an ambush,” read the tweet by DCI.

The police officers are reported to have gone ahead to arrest the three suspects but released them after securing the consignment from them.

“They took the drugs and dumped the suspects. No one will be spared in the war against crime,” DCI stated.
