See How United Boss Rates Fred After PSG Clash

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was thoroughly pleased with his whole team on Wednesday night after their historic win over PSG but reserved special praise for Fred in particular.

The Brazilian came in for arguably his most important match of his career at United having failed to make an impression so far.

Fred was brought in last summer and has struggled to make his mark under Jose Mourinho with some believing he will fail under Solskjaer as well.

However, the midfielder put in the performance of his life as he and Scott McTominay completely outplayed the French champions to give their teammates the platform to perform.

Fred’s tireless running and tackling saw him set the standard for how the Red Devils were going to approach the match.

According to Sky Sports, Ole said: “Fred – that was probably his breakthrough for us. You can see why we’ve signed him.

“He’s got the mentality of a Brazilian international – he is a Brazilian international.

“He gets on the ball, no fear, no doubt whatsoever. We played a system today that he used to play at Shakhtar.”

Romelu Lukaku had his breakthrough match for Ole a few matches ago and hasn’t looked back since, scoring six goals in three games with two crucial ones coming against PSG.

The Belgian should be a inspiration for Fred who will be looking to cement his place in the starting XI even when the likes of Paul Pogba, Ander Herrera and Nemanja Matic return.

Hopefully the former Shakhtar Donetsk man can show consistency in his performances now and take encouragement from his solid display against PSG.
